I'm admittedly not a Bond fan.. whatsoever. Despite my disinterest in the films however, the new Skyfall Collection by OPI is definitely right up my street! I rarely like more than one or two shades in a nail polish collection but I was really excited about quite a few of the shades in this one. Due to my attempt at budgeting I had to narrow my purchase down to two. I bought these from ebay so after scouring swatches online I chose Casino Royale, a deep plum creme and Goldeneye, a warm gold micro-flake.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Casino Royale. I had really high hopes for it as it looked gorgeous in swatches online and the colour looks great in the bottle but when I tried it on my own nails it was very underwhelming to be honest. I know it's a creme formula but it just looks a bit flat and boring once it's applied. I think it's maybe too much of a red toned plum for my skin tone.. I tend to get on better with cooler plums. It does come across well in direct natural light like in my photos above but in false lighting at nighttime it looks almost like an unflattering brown-black colour.. bleurgh! I think I might have to give this one away as I'm sure it will look lovely on someone else but it's just not great on me sadly.
Goldeneye on the other hand is a whole different story! It's pure sparkly goodness! My photos don't do it enough justice. It does need 3 coats to look it's best but it's definitely worth it. It is quite a warm yellow toned gold which wouldn't be the type of gold I'd usually go for having such pale skin but the glitter makes it look very bright and vibrant so I do really love this one. It reminds of tinsel and Christmas tree decorations! What more can I say! :)
The World Is Not Enough and On Her Majesty's Secret Service both look like really unique shades. I wish I'd gotten one of those two instead of Casino Royale. Boo!
Is anyone planning on getting any of the polishes from this collection?
