My Favourite Products of 2012!!

Foundation & Concealer

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation
This is definitely my favourite foundation that I've tried to date. It gives a slight glow to the skin and always looks so lovely and healthy. I get so many compliments when I'm wearing this! I have a full review on this foundation here.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
This foundation deserves all the good press it has gotten since it's release. It performs as well, if not better, than some high end foundations. It's medium coverage with a satin finish and applies so easily!
MAC Studio Finish Concealer
I can't believe I only discovered this concealer this year! It's the new love of my life (yep!). I use it both under my eyes and on my face and it's perfect for both! Can't be without this little gem!

Cheek Products

MAC Pinch O' Peach
I used this almost exclusively for the first half of 2012. It's a lovely warm pink shade which just brightens the face up while still looking quite soft.
Illamasqua Katie
This my go-to everyday blusher. It's a beautiful baby pink colour and applies so smoothly. Everyone with pale skin needs to own this! It's a definite staple in my make-up bag now.
MAC Well Dressed
This is similar enough to Katie except that it's got a slight shimmer in it. It's another one which I use on a day-to-day basis. I've been loving these baby pinks for the past year!
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade
This is a really pretty light pearly ivory highlighter. I like to dampen my brush with Fix+ when using this as it makes it a bit more intense but it still doesn't look too shimmery or OTT.

Eyeshadows

Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Black Karat
This is such a gorgeous tarnished gold-green colour. It looks beautiful on top of a gold base and pairs particularly well with either dark brown or navy.
RMK Metallic Gold
This eyeshadow is just stunning! It works best applied over another eyeshadow or over a base. I like to just press it onto the very centre of my lid using my ring finger. It's really sparkly and perfect for nights out!
MAC Nylon, Patina, Mulch, Espresso
I've been loving these four MAC shadows in particular this year. Nylon is such a gorgeous inner corner highlight, Patina is my new staple lid colour and Mulch and Espresso are perfect for the crease and outer corner.

Mascara, Eyeliner & Brow Products

Laura Mercier Cake Eyeliner in Black Ebony
My trusty Face2 cake eyeliner ran out this year so I moved onto the Laura Mercier one which is equally great. It mixes into a smooth liquid or paste and applies really easily.
Laura Mercier Brow Pencil in Blonde
I'm sure if you've been following my blog for a while you'll have noticed that this is pretty much the only brow pencil I will use! It's not waxy so it allows you to get really precise lines and the colour is a great taupe brown.
Illamasqua Lash and Brow Gel
I use this just for my brows. It's definitely one I'd recommend for keeping brows in place and it's clear so it works on any hair colour. It's also fantastic used for adhering glitter to the eyelid!
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
This is a staple of mine. I've used it for years now and I'm yet to find something better!

Lip Products

NARS Funny Face
This is a gorgeous bright fuchsia colour! I'm a complete red lipstick addict but this is a good alternative if I want something a bit different!
Laura Mercier Red Amour
This is part of their new Creme Smooth Collection which came out towards the end of this year but I've been wearing this a lot since getting it. It's a very true red shade and is lovely and creamy.
Illamasqua Drench
This has been a favourite of mine for probably a year and a half now. It's a gorgeous pinky-red with a matte finish.
Burberry Lip Mist in Rosy Red
This was my favourite lipstick to wear during the summer months of this year as it has a slightly sheer, glossy finish so even though it's red, it looks a bit more effortless than a classic matte red lip.
MAC Lip Liners in Beet and Cherry
I got these two liners towards the end of this year but they're two which I've been wearing constantly since getting them. Beet is perfect for any deeper pinks or plummy pinks and I love Cherry since I tend to wear more cool toned red lipsticks which Cherry pairs perfectly with.
Illamasqua Medium Pencil in Titivate
I've used this in quite a few FOTD's over the past year or so. It's the perfect fuchsia shade and also seems to go well with pink toned reds.

Hair & Skincare Products

L'Oreal Professional Silver Shampoo
I had a bit of a hair nightmare earlier this year when my highlights were done in Australia and by bright blonde the hairdresser seemed to translate that as meaning a dull yellow blonde. So on returning to Dublin it took a few tries with my hairdresser here to get my hair back to it's normal blonde colour. In conjuntion with getting the right shade of highlights I also used the L'Oreal Silver Shampoo which helps to eliminate brassy tones in blonde hair. I can honestly say this really does do what it says on the tin and even though my hair is back to the colour I like it to be I still use this every once in a while to brighten my hair up a bit!
Kerastase Elixir Ultime
I'm on my second bottle of this hair oil and it's definitely the best leave-in hair conditioner that I've tried. It really doesn't weigh hair down but just makes it lovely and shiny and healthy looking.
Alpha H Liquid Gold
I don't tend to ever change up my skincare products or try many new ones but when this product was getting so many great reviews from bloggers and youtubers I thought I'd give it a go. It's used in a similar way as a toner but it contains glycolic acid which acts as a mild exfoliant to get rid of dead skin cells. This stuff leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and has completely gotten rid of dry patches which I would usually get around my nose. Sometimes I don't even feel the need for moisturiser. I'd definitely recommend this product and I've just purchased a couple of other Alpha H products since I was so impressed with this one!

I'd like to say a very big happy new year to you all! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's Eve! I had a really great yet extremely busy time over the Christmas holidays. I had a few festive makeup posts planned but work just got too busy and my days off were spent catching up on sleep and spending time with family as my sister was home from London for a few weeks which was really nice. I was a bit sad not to have gotten a few posts up over Christmas but on the upside it's a brand new year, a fresh start and I'm definitely going to try and start blogging more in 2013!

It's strange to look back at everything that happened in 2012. Everyone has been saying that the year flew by but to be honest I felt like it was quite a long year! I think it's because I was still in Australia for the first half of it and that feels like another lifetime ago now! There's  been so many different aspects of this year for me, some fun and some not so great but overall I think I'm kind of relieved to be starting a brand new year now! There's lots of things I want to do this year including giving my blog a lot more attention so I'm hoping to be a lot more productive than last year!

Hope everyone has had a great start to 2013 and if not well remember the year can only get better from here! xo

  2. I've been wanting to try the Kerastase elixir for a while now. I've heard a lot of good things about it as well. Patina looks like such a gorgeous color. It's been on my buy list for a while now but everytime I go to MAC I end up getting a different color lol.

  3. I really need to go check out Lightscapade - I'm extremely fearful of shimmery skin (it translates to shiny for me most of the time!) but now I feel like I should at least have a look :D x

  12. some amazing products! MAC well dressed has been on the 'to buy' list for a while. I am just waiting for my current daily blush 'Dame' to run out to justify it considering they are very similar shades.
